So, back in 2013, I discovered this amazing designer called One Little Bird. I have used her stuff ever since and,as my style has become more minimalist, I am drawn to her products even more. I have also admired her awe inspiring creative team. Often thinking ‘I wish I could make pages like that’! I love the clean lines and tiny little embellishments and all the gorgeous white space.
So I scrapped away for the next few years, taking inspiration from all the talented ladies at The Lily pad. I learned all about photo editing and creating more realistic shadowing (still a work in progress)! and just enjoyed preserving precious memories for my family.
Then in November this year, I applied for a spot on the One Little Bird Creative Team. I waited for the rejection email that would surely come. BUT NO! I was chosen by Peppermint herself to be on her creative team… WHAT!!? #dreamjustcametrue! I am still pinching myself and am just so thrilled to be creating for such a talented designer. You can expect to see many pages made with One Little Bird goodness from now on.
An added bonus is that Peppermints designs work so well with Lynne Grieveson Designs. So I am extremely fortunate to be creating for 2 designers who’s styles gel together beautifully. Lynne makes the most amazing stamps and brushes which I often use with One Little Bird stuff to soften my pages.
So here is my first ever layout as a One Little Bird Creative Team member 🙂 Using the gorgeous Shimmer Kit with a beautiful brush from Lynn Grieveson’s Iced.
First up today is this page I put together using a photo Matt took of a wren (mattgouldphotography.com)
Using the beautiful kit, Iced from Lynne Grieveson Designs at The Lilly pad. The soft browns and creams are perfect for the photo. I think wrens must be one of my favourite British birds. They are so tiny and full of character. As I type, I can see one hopping about on the tree outside my window!
This next layout features my son’s girlfriend who is going through a bit of a rough time at University. Her housemates are being unkind to her and even want her out of the house. All because she doesn’t want to go out and party all the time she is ‘too quiet’! Can you believe that? Anyway, she is actually coping quite well and has the support of us all. So hopefully she will come through it all unscathed.
I’ve used a kit called Chestnut Lane from One Little Bird. It’s actually a Christmas themed kit, but just called out to me for this photo.
The layout is based on a sketch from Lets Get Sketchy. I discovered their site on Instagram. They provide a new sketch every Monday and I find I can usually adapt them to fit my style. The people on the site are mostly paper scrappers so it’s nice to add my digital take on it. Pop over and have a look if you fancy a go 🙂
I received a Gallery Standout for this layout. Such an honour and so exciting. Thank you Jana 🙂
Sorry for the delay between posts. Time is zipping by!
Anyway, my first Layout today is all about hubby Paul’s 5oth Birthday. Sophie made him the most amazing cake. It was a mountain scene from The Tour de France, combined with Star Wars lol. It was perfect for Paul and he was overwhelmed when he saw it. I love Sophies’s face in the photo as she watches the knife sink into her masterpiece ha!
Made using Table For Two from Sahin Designs and the fab paint effect/transfer is from Lynne Grieveson Designs
This next layout features an amazing photo by my son Matt – mattgouldphotography.com
Using the beautiful kit Starry Night. I’ve used this photo before, but this time I have cropped in closer as I love the way the stag is calling. He is really putting his heart and soul into it!
Just a quick post today. We have had some wonderful days out lately, geocaching. The gorgeous Autumn weather has been settled and mild. The trees are looking so pretty too, and Poppy Dog has been in her element!
I felt compelled to put a page together. Using mainly Woodnote from Sahin Designs. I put this page on Instagram, but realised that the writing is probably too small to read. So have put it here 🙂
This is one of the regular visitors to our garden. I don’t actually find them at all spooky, but in this photo, he does look kind of sinister! Photo is by my son Matt of course 🙂
I love to watch the crows, they are so intelligent and have even figured out how to ‘fish’ for goldfish in the pond. They put bread in the shallow part of the water -step back and wait for the fish to come and take a nibble – then they pounce. It’s amazing how they’ve learned to do this and recently, I have watched them teaching this year’s offspring how to do it.
For the above layout, I used the brilliant new Halloween kit Fly By Night from Lynne Grieveson Designs. Template, used as a sketch, is from Sahin Designs.
When Matt was out taking photos last week, he met a park ranger who had tamed a few birds to come and feed from his hand. So , of course, he took a photo!
The kit I used for this layout is Kohi from Lynne Grieveson Designs. It’s one of my favourites of Lynne’s. I love the earthy, natural colours which compliment Matt’s photos so well.
I got a GSO for this layout (gallery stand out) of which I am very proud 🙂
Well that’s all for today. I am off out with Poppy Dog to find some crunchy Autumn leaves to walk through. The weather is still so beautiful and sunny around here. I love Autumn!
So this post is a bit of a shout out to my talented son, Matthew. He is passionate about wildlife and a very keen, self taught wildlife photographer. He studied Conservation & Wildlife Management at college and since then has honed his photography skills. He is now a volunteer wildlife photographer for The Wetlands & Wildfowl Trust and is building his photography business along side his job in a camera shop.
I love the fact that he is passionate about our wildlife and natural environment and often gets up at 5.00am to capture the sunrise and accompanying birds at our local nature reserve. I share his love of all things natural and the great outdoors and love to use his photos in my layouts.
I don’t see many layouts featuring wildlife. Most pages seem to focus on family and pets, which is GREAT and lots of my pages also have that focus. But I enjoy the fact that my wildlife pages are a little more unusual (and can also be more challenging to put together)!
The page at the top of this post is a fallow deer that Matt photographed this week. I found it hard to scrap due to the dark, unusual photo style, but hope I have done it justice . Kit is Woodnote & Joyful Noises from Sahin Designs. The page below features Matt in his natural habitat lol. This is when he is at his happiest – at the nature reserve and with a camera round his neck! Kit is Woodnote from Sahin Designs. I’ve loved using this kit. It really works well on my wildlife layouts.
